Kaila Flexer and Gari Hegedus's first album as the duo Teslim!

Kaila and Gari are students of and inspired by traditional Green, Turkish, Arabic, Jewish and Balkan music. At the same time, they acknowledge that without the cultural context in which these traditions were born and nurtured, they can only hope to understand the full scope of these expressions. They are thus inspired to create new music fed by this deep well. Rather than trying to imitate the traditional in their original creations, they aspire to recall a language that goes beyond the limits of culture and ethnic boundaries.
